SUMMARY
AAAF has profiled over 160 slum dwellings/settlements in the country capitals of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. The compounded population of these slum dwellers is approximately 6 million and 70% of these are Children below the age of 15 years.
Life in the slums is hard and most of the Children here lack access to basic services and opportunities. As other kids head to school, the majority of these kids head to dumpsites to spend their days. The older kids eke out a living from collecting scrap while the young ones use these spaces as play areas.
AAAF has developed a virtual play unit and educational materials on wheels to engage these children. We have named this initiative; “Happy Children Mobile Center” and Kampala, the Capital City of Uganda has been selected to pilot this project.
